About the Museum
Established in 2004 and officially opened to the public in 2013, the gallery was founded to showcase Eduard Isabekyan’s work in a permanent space. The inspiration for creating the gallery came from the decision of Yerevan Municipality to honour Isabekyan’s contributions to Armenian art. The artist’s son, Aram Isabekyan, generously donated 28 paintings from the family collection, forming the backbone of the gallery’s permanent exhibition.
The gallery spans two floors. Visitors begin their journey on the lower level, where a range of portraits, genre scenes, manuscripts, letters, photographs, and diary entries invites closer attention to daily life and personal expression. Ascending to the circular upper hall, guests encounter grand, epic canvases infused with historical themes, heroic spirit, national pride, and triumphant struggle.
Irina Isabekyan, the artist’s daughter, has led the gallery since its opening. Under her direction, it has become an active hub of Yerevan’s cultural life, hosting thematic lectures, special exhibitions, workshops, and meetings—often showcasing the work of Eduard Isabekyan’s own students. From 2015 onwards, exhibitions titled “Eduard Isabekyan and his students” have helped spotlight artists from the next generation he inspired.
Practical amenities include a free audio guide available in Armenian, Russian, English, and Arabic; a gift shop stocked with souvenirs; free admission to visitors under seven; and reduced ticket prices for students and pensioners. The gallery welcomes guests from Tuesday to Sunday, between 11:00 and 17:00.
