About the Museum
Mirzoyan Library began in August 2014 when award‑winning documentary photographer Karén Mirzoyan decided to open his personal collection of about one hundred fine photography books to the public in Yerevan. Housed within a courtyard‑style historic house featuring wooden balconies and stairs characteristic of old‑Yerevan architecture, the space was furnished with repurposed furniture to reflect both simplicity and artistic flair.
Through generous contributions, the collection has grown to more than six hundred photography books and magazines, making it the largest photography library in the Caucasus region. The library’s collection includes works by international masters such as Walker Evans, Helmut Newton, Annie Leibovitz, and Ara Güler, alongside books by and about Armenian photographers.
Within the building, the ground floor serves as a reading room and workshop area, while the second floor houses an exhibition hall and a small café where guests may enjoy traditional drinks or a handcrafted cocktail amid large photographic prints decorating the walls. The venue hosts regular photography workshops, art exhibitions, film screenings, live music, and DJ sets—transforming from quiet creative hub during the day to an atmospheric salon in the evening.
