Hot Glass Fiji

Hot Glass Fiji 5

Introduction

Hot Glass Fiji is Fiji’s first and only glass‑blowing studio and gallery, located along the tranquil Sunset Strip in Korotogo on the Coral Coast of Fiji. Perched on a hillside overlooking the sea, this remarkable venue offers visitors both artistry and scenery in a uniquely immersive experience.

About the Museum

Hot Glass Fiji was founded by professional glassblower Alice Hill, who trained and worked in the glass‑blowing industry in the United Kingdom before fulfilling her dream of establishing Fiji’s first studio in Korotogo. The workshop and gallery are set amid tropical surroundings, with views that reflect the vivid blues of the sea, lush greenery, and vibrant sunsets—which inspire the colours and forms of the art.

The studio welcomes visitors who may simply wish to observe the mesmerising process of molten glass being shaped—an experience described as “almost dance‑like”. For those who would like a more hands‑on experience, a variety of structured workshops are available: a Glass‑Blowing Experience suitable for individuals, families, or friends who wish to try creating a vase, tumbler, bowl, dish, or paperweight (for younger participants); a Sandcasting Experience, where participants design sand‑moulded memory pebbles shaped like iconic Fijian objects; an Extended Glass‑Blowing Experience, allowing creation of three pieces and deeper insight into techniques; and Private Tuition, a one‑on‑one workshop with Alice Hill herself.

All workshop pieces are annealed overnight, and visitors may collect them the next day. For convenience, the studio can courier the glass items to hotels or even ship internationally via DHL for an additional charge. The studio hours are Tuesday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with the possibility of visits outside these hours by appointment.
